Big Bore Long Range   *   Cowboy Long Range  

The Texas Historical Shootist Society was founded as a Cowboy Action Shooting Club. Cowboy Action Shooting always has been and always will be the main focus of, and activity provided by the Club. However, in an effort to provide as much enjoyment, and give members as much shooting time as possible, there are several other forms of shooting we provide at Gunsmoke as Side Matches.  Big Bore Long Range is available at this time following each monthly shoot. There are only two requirements for these matches to take place. One, there be enough shooters (not many) wanting to stay and participate on that day to make it worthwhile. Two, those participants’ help with range takedown and put away when finished. That’s all it takes to add even more enjoyment to your day. On the following pages there is a brief description of what each of these side matches are, and how they are shot. Stay awhile and try them out, you may find these to be just as challenging, just as rewarding, and maybe as much fun as Cowboy Action Shooting.
