Buildings & Stages

THSS is located on the Brune Ranch north of Columbus, TX. Click here for Directions to Gunsmoke. Like Rome, Gunsmoke was not built in a day. It took many years, and a lot of hard work by its members, to become the great almost full size Western Town it is today with the facilities for Cowboy Action Shooting ™. The Stages that have buildings are permanent structures with the backs removed so the cowboys and cowgirls can shoot from them. Some stages like the Cowboy Camp and the wagon have no buildings. During Trailhead there are 14 Stages. Regular monthly shoot we use only 6 stages alternating the ones we wish to use. The stages are named and number with the photos below.



Some of the building are completed structures for administration purposes. One is the Ranger Barracks providing shelter for staying over the weekend. 

We host a major shoot once each year, in March, called Trailhead. Approximately 300 shooters show up along with lots of spectators , venders and usually a film crew or two. We have been featured on the "The Eyes of Texas", ESPN and Cowboys.  "Cowboys" in a weekly show  on the Outdoor Channel hosted by one of our own members, Richard "Tequila" Young.
