RV & Primitive Camping
at Gunsmoke during Trailhead
There are two options

We have parking for RVs at Gunsmoke in a pasture about 300 yards from the Range.   You can park anywhere you would like in the pasture.   If you wish to line up with the rest of the RVers, that is fine.   If you would like a little more privacy, or get away from the generators, park anywhere in that pasture you want.   Obviously, the more secluded, the further the walk to the firing line each morning.   You can drive up each morning, but how close you get depends on how early you come up and get yourself a parking spot.   There are not hook-ups, or dump points, there is also NO Charge.

The second option is an RV park named Thousand Trails about a half mile or so further down FM1890.   I am sorry I do not have contact information for them, but directory assistance for Columbus should be able to give you the number.   For Primitive camping, we have another area that we use.   It is only 75 yards from the firing line at its closest point.   Again, the farther you want to get away from other people, the farther the walk in the morning.   We are not totally strict on our requirements to use of this area.   If you have a period canvas tent, that is great.   If you don't, we would like you to set up where it is not highly visible, but it is OK to use.   Now some of the other campers may make a comment or two, but we won't turn you away.   You can drive your vehicle in to set up, but then you will have to park it out in the regular parking area until it is time tho tear down.   Once again, in this area nothing is provided, except the ground to set up on.   My home number is 281-342-1210.   I am usually home by 6:00 pm, an d I usually stay up late, 11 pm or so.   Glad y'all are coming to Trailhead.   Look forward to seeing you there.

Goodnight

Depending on the weather conditions during Trailhead, BURN-BAN Rules may apply for open camp fires.  Caution is suggested at all times.
